Markup scan videos and images with polygons, arrows, and labels

Feature Overview

The scan markup feature lets users create precise, timestamp-aware annotations directly on ultrasound videos, as well as images. It supports three primary markup types, collaboration with strong ownership rules, granular visibility controls, and seamless integration into both assessment-driven and general-purpose workflows.

Markup Types

Polygons: Outline anatomical structures or regions with editable vertices, edge insertion, optional semi-transparent fill, and automatic centroid label placement.

Arrows: Point to findings with precise head/tail placement and optional tail-offset label.

Standalone Labels: Place free text callouts anywhere on the scan.

All three types prompt for a label immediately after creation. Labels can be edited later, repositioned by dragging, or added to previously unlabeled markups.

Markup Modes

Assessment Mode

Active during the study document and review steps.

  • Colors auto-assigned:
    • Document → Blue
    • Review → Purple
  • Editing restricted to the matching step (prevents reviewers modifying documented markups and vise-versa)

Generic Mode

Active when viewing scans in the scan archive.

  • Colors are configurable
  • Users can freely create, edit, and delete their own markups

Collaborative Access Control

All markups are viewable by anyone with access to the scans

  • Edit and delete rights are restricted to the original markup author
  • Per-user visibility filters available in the layer controls
